April Grier
Casting Professional, Producer and Director
April D. Grier is a seasoned casting director and project manager with extensive experience in media production, specializing in casting commercials and collaborating with actors, cinematographers, directors, and voiceover artists.
Currently, she serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, teaching courses in Africana Studies, focusing on topics such as Spike Lee's filmography, the Black Experience in cinema, Afromusicology, Race, Class, Gender and Schooling, and contemporary racial issues.
In addition to her academic role, April has a strong background in jazz music, having collaborated with renowned jazz artists, organized jazz events, hosted radio shows for WBGO Jazz Radio, and instructed jazz history, music appreciation, and saxophone performance at various institutions.
As the proprietor of Magenta Business Consulting for Artreprenuers, April is dedicated to equipping performing artists with essential business acumen, strategic knowledge, and support.
April pursued her MA in Jazz History & Research at Rutgers University - Newark and has held key positions such as Creative Director of Public Programming at Newark Symphony Hall and Project Manager/Office Manager at Sound Imagination.
