    Dr. Anthony C. Hood is the Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at First Horizon Bank, also a member of the firm's Operating Committee.

    Before his current role, he was the Director of Civic Innovation at UAB and an Associate Professor of Management in Collat School of Business.

    Starting as an electrical engineer, Dr. Hood had a successful decade-long career with BellSouth and AT&T, specializing in supporting startup telecom companies.

    Dr. Hood pursued a full-time PhD at the University of Alabama after leaving AT&T, completing it in just 3 years.

    With a diverse educational background, he has studied at prestigious institutions like Harvard Business School, Stanford, and Morehouse School of Medicine.

    His undergraduate and MBA degrees are from UAB, where he was later awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019.

    Dr. Hood is actively involved in various organizations, including the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and Bush Hills Connections.

    He has been recognized for his community-based endeavors with awards such as the Power of Leadership Award from Alabama Power Company and the Dr. A.G. Gaston Award from the A.G. Gaston Business Institute.

    His vast educational journey includes studies in strategic management, entrepreneurship, community health leadership, and more.

    With a rich professional history, Dr. Hood has held positions at prominent organizations and served on multiple boards.

    His prior roles include being a faculty member at UAB, participating in various committees, and engaging in community leadership roles.

    Dr. Hood's expertise spans management, innovation, entrepreneurship, and diversity, and he continues to make significant contributions to both academia and the community.
