Anna Ziai
Legal Fellow at Sierra Club Environmental Law Program
Anna Ziai is an environmental attorney and legal fellow at the Sierra Club.31 She joined the Sierra Club's Washington, D.C. office after graduating from the University of Chicago Law School.3 As a law student, Anna worked with UChicago's Abrams Environmental Law Clinic, where she gained experience in environmental legislation and worked on briefs for community solar initiatives.2
At the Sierra Club, Anna focuses on using federal environmental legislation to address pressing environmental issues.5 Her work involves research and drafting of memoranda, briefs, and formal comments on a wide range of federal environmental laws.1
Anna is passionate about environmental law and policy, particularly in areas such as:
- Advancing renewable energy
- Combating environmental racism
- Protecting national parks and marine areas
- Implementing clean air and water legislation
Currently, Anna serves as the Project Director for State Implementation of Federal Climate Legislation at the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA).14 In this role, she supports the 100% Clean Energy Collaborative by helping states understand and implement the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.1
Anna is licensed and admitted to the Oregon State Bar.1 She holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, which she earned in June 2021.1
