Anna Galland is a seasoned strategist and organization-builder dedicated to advancing democracy and fostering a world where everyone can thrive.
With a diverse background in various roles, Anna currently works as an independent organizer, consultant, and adjunct professor of political science at Northwestern University.
She also holds the position of Senior Democracy Fellow at Propel, an investment and philanthropic venture, and was a Pritzker Fellow at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics in 2022, focusing on democracy renewal through a movement-building approach.
Anna is actively involved in advising US-based political and civic organizations and initiatives, emphasizing strategic planning and collaboration among national civil society leaders and funders.
Her recent projects include boosting the pro-democracy movement's resilience, combating white Christian nationalism, designing progressive power-building strategies, providing governance counsel, supporting election defense coalitions, and more.
Prior to her current roles, Anna served as the Executive Director of MoveOn Civic Action for seven years, driving grassroots campaigns on healthcare access, democracy protection, immigrant rights, and other vital issues.
During her tenure, she oversaw significant growth and impact at MoveOn, quadrupling the organization's budget and donor base, tripling the staff, and expanding membership and outreach.
In addition to her behind-the-scenes work, Anna has a notable media presence with appearances on major networks like MSNBC, CNN, and CSPAN, and contributions to publications such as the New York Times, Washington Post, The Nation, and more.
Anna actively participates in various boards and advisory roles, serving as the chair of MoveOn's board and as a board member for Public Citizen and the National Domestic Workers Alliance, among others.
She resides in the Chicago area and remains engaged in activist initiatives and civic startups.
Anna's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Brown University.
