Tech Entrepreneur and Executive
Anil Dash is a prominent technology executive, entrepreneur, and writer, currently serving as the Head of Glitch and Vice President of Developer Experience at Fastly. He has been in this role since May 2022, following Fastly's acquisition of Glitch, where he previously held the position of CEO. Under his leadership, Glitch became a popular platform for developers to create and share web applications, and it was notable for being the first tech startup to voluntarily recognize its workers' union during his tenure.145
Dash is recognized for his advocacy for ethical and inclusive technology. He has received several accolades, including a lifetime achievement award from the Webby Awards in 2022 for his contributions to the tech industry. His work extends beyond Glitch; he serves on the boards of various organizations, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation and The Markup, and has advised the Obama White House’s Office of Digital Strategy.134
In addition to his executive roles, Dash is also known for his scholarly work on the musician Prince and has been involved in pioneering projects related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs). He co-created one of the first implementations of NFTs with Kevin McCoy in 2014.56 Dash has a background in media and technology, having worked with influential companies and initiatives throughout his career, including serving as a founding member of the Data & Society Research Institute and being a director at Stack Overflow.245
He is based in New York City, where he lives with his family.5
