Angela Rye
Angela Rye is an American attorney, journalist, and entrepreneur who serves as the Chief Executive Officer at A. Rye Inc and IMPACT Strategies, a political advocacy firm in Washington, DC.2
Early Life and Education
Rye grew up in the Madison Park section of Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Seattle's all-girls Holy Names Academy, the University of Washington, and Seattle University School of Law.1
Career
Rye began her career in legislative advocacy at the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education. She later worked in the district office of Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) and served as the Western Region Director of the National Black Law Students Association.1
In Washington, DC, Rye joined IMPACT, an organization founded by husband and wife attorneys Joe Briggs and Kendra Davis Briggs as well as policy advisor David Johns. IMPACT aimed to encourage young professionals in economic empowerment, civic engagement, and political involvement.1
Rye served as the executive director and general counsel to the Congressional Black Caucus for the 112th Congress, where she developed the overall legislative and political strategy for the Caucus. She also served as a senior advisor to the House Committee on Homeland Security.12
Rye is a CNN Political Commentator and NPR Political Analyst. She has been featured as an influential politico, lawyer, and advocate by several publications and outlets.2 Rye is a prominent political strategist who offers regular on-air commentary for media outlets including BET, CNN, HBO, HuffPost Live and TV One.2
She currently serves on the boards of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute, Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee, the Seattle University School of Law Alumni, Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network, Inclusv, serves as a senior advisor to the Government Technology and Services Coalition, and is a member of The Links, Incorporated, National Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Washington Government Relations Group.2
