Andy Schmidt, President of Ocean Nutrition

Andy (Andreas) Schmidt was the President of San Francisco Bay Brand (SFBB) and Ocean Nutrition, two leading companies in the aquarium and aquaculture industry. He passed away on December 30, 2021 at his home in Russia at the age of 68.1234

Andy took over SFBB, which his father Anton had started over 50 years ago, and developed it into the premier retail brand serving the aquatic market.1 He was passionate about the aquarium and aquaculture community and dedicated most of his life to creating and running these companies.1

As President, Andy was known as an innovative leader who wanted to make the best products and run the best companies.4 He was described as a perfectionist, generous, caring, and always giving to others.1 Many will remember him as a great friend, mentor, and colleague in the industry.12

Andy is survived by his brother Tony, wife Yana, and stepsons Dev and Boris.1 A celebration of his life will be announced in the future by the current CEO of SFBB, Doug King, who will continue running the company with respect for what Andy dedicated his life to creating.1
