In August 2020 I asked my superannuation provider for their position on Bitcoin.

“We don’t have any plans to invest directly in crypto-currencies at this time or have a stand-alone cryptocurrency investment option.

In our view, crypto-currencies carry significant risks and have little to no regulation. There’s also the risk they may be used by organised crime and terrorist groups, and have the potential to be classified as illegal by governments, and rendered worthless to investors.

At this stage, we believe these assets are too speculative in nature and almost impossible to accurately value. Therefore, as fiduciaries for members’ retirement savings, we don’t believe they’re currently a prudent investment that fit within our commitment to help members achieve their best retirement outcomes."

As a Bitcoiner, this out of touch and uneducated position wasn't satisfactory, so I started investigating how I could invest my Super into Bitcoin.

Avis Europe is a leading car rental company in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, serving customers via the Avis and Budget brands in over 3,900 locations.

○ A business facing PM role leading a $20m mainframe change programme
○ Delivered the full programme of change on time & 35% under budget
○ Provided leadership & direction to the project team
○ Full P&L responsibility for the programme

Role required extensive global travel across 119 countries over 18th months, ensuring all impacted countries delivered a successful outcome. Collaboration with development teams based in India and the U.S. was critical to success.

Additionally a member of the IT management committee, reporting to the group CIO, working closely with all business units, global country IT managers and Avis Budget Group in the U.S.

ASOS is a global online fashion retailer offering over 50,000 branded & own label product lines across womenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories, jewellery and beauty. 2004-6 was an amazing time to work at ASOS, building a team and a technology platform that saw the company head on a meteoric growth curve that continues today.

I joined ASOS at 28 to Head the IT department managing all aspects of IT, including aligning business & IT strategy, team recruitment, systems architecture & development, project portfolio & IT financial management. During this period ASOS grew significantly with turnover +260% in 18 months

○ Delivered fully transactional bespoke .net website
