    Assistant Director, NOLS Rocky Mountain

    Andy Blair is a seasoned outdoor educator and wilderness medicine instructor, known for his over 20 years of experience in the field. He completed his NOLS Instructors Course in 1992 and Wilderness Medicine Instructor Training Course in 2001. Over the years, he has accumulated more than 250 weeks of fieldwork and has conducted over 50 Wilderness Medicine courses. He is highly regarded for his steadfast and consistent approach to work, particularly in activities like mountaineering, rock climbing, backcountry skiing, winter camping, canyoneering, whitewater canoeing, and outdoor educator and instructor courses.

    Andy holds expertise in teaching various Wilderness Medicine courses including Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, and Wilderness First Responder Recertification. He maintains a National Registry EMT certification, further solidifying his skillset in handling emergency medical situations effectively.

    In addition to his fieldwork, Andy has held significant roles at NOLS, such as Program Supervisor and Program Manager. He has cultivated strong relationships with 30 different land managers from organizations like the BLM, Park Service, and Forest Service. Andy oversees permitting activities across 7 states, amounting to around 38,000 service days on public lands.

    Andy's commitment to the impactful student experience at NOLS is reflected in his administrative endeavors. He has been pivotal in securing additional service days for NOLS students across various national forests, including Shoshone National Forest, Bighorn National Forest, and Bridger-Teton National Forest. His efforts have also reinstated NOLS' access to the Ashley National Forest and facilitated service days on the Dixie National Forest and St. George BLM Field Office.

    Having studied Philosophy at McGill University, Andy's educational background complements his practical experience in outdoor leadership and wilderness medicine. His professional journey includes roles like Assistant Director, NOLS Rocky Mountain at The National Outdoor Leadership School, Wilderness Medicine Instructor, Field Instructor, and Program Manager at NOLS, as well as positions at organizations like Wyoming Outdoor Council and Jackson Hole Mountain Guides.
