Andy Baker

Andy Baker is an academic with over twenty years of experience, having held positions at various prestigious institutions like the Universities of Exeter, Newcastle, Birmingham, and UNSW Australia.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Bristol, specializing in karst hydrology, paleoclimate, and isotope geochemistry. Andy has been recognized with awards such as the Philip Leverhume Prize in 2003 and a Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Studies at Durham in 2009.
With a remarkable publication record exceeding two hundred articles in renowned international journals like Nature and Science, he actively collaborates with countries worldwide, including the USA, France, Spain, Ethiopia, China, Austria, Germany, and South Africa.
Andy Baker currently serves as the Director of Research at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at UNSW. His expertise lies in karst hydrogeology, speleothem science, organic matter characterization, fluorescence spectroscopy, and isotope geochemistry.
In terms of education, he completed his PhD and BSc in Geography at the University of Bristol. Throughout his career, Andy has held various roles such as Professor at UNSW Sydney, Research Program Leader at the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies and Pemberton Fellow at Durham University, Professor of Water Science at the University of Birmingham, Reader at Newcastle University, Lecturer at the University of Exeter, and also worked as a PhD Researcher at the University of Bristol.
