Andrew Mason

Andrew Mason is an American entrepreneur and businessman, best known as the founder and former CEO of Groupon. He was born in 1981 and grew up in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Mason graduated from Northwestern University in 2003 with a degree in music. He initially worked in web design and later founded his first venture, The Point, which eventually evolved into Groupon in 2008, a platform for local business discounts.2

After his tenure at Groupon, where he served as CEO until 2013, Mason went on to found Detour, an audio walking tour app, and is currently the CEO of Descript, a company specializing in audio and video editing tools that leverage machine learning technology. He has been with Descript since December 2017 and has been involved in various capacities in the tech and startup ecosystem, including a part-time partnership with Y Combinator.12

Mason's career reflects a strong focus on innovative technology solutions and entrepreneurship, contributing significantly to the fields of e-commerce and digital media.
