- Converted entire operation to a completely automated infrastructure using Puppet and Cobbler, no manual configuration or building of any services/hosts.● Completely architected and deployed from scratch 2 new datacenters for a fully redundant active­active geographically separated load balanced dual datacenter infrastructure. The entire service can run from either datacenter. Under normal operation, load is shared between both.● Moved pieces of infrastructure onto Amazon's Cloud (AWS).● Designed and deployed redundant system for centralized userauthentication/authorization/management using OpenLDAP and FreeRadius.● Wrote tools for monitoring LDAP synchronization and data integrity across slave servers.● Researched and integrated existing products from several network/system hardware vendors intocommon LDAP/Radius AAA system.

- Team lead for Streaming Operations Group. Group was responsible for almost all of the streaming content at AOL and affiliates (CNN, Warner Bros, MovieFone, etc.), and the online “radio” products offered by AOL, Netscape and ShoutCast.● Grew 3 ­man team with ~60 hosts pushing out ~140Mb/sec at peak to 13 ­man team with ~2000 hosts in a geographically distributed heterogeneous network pushing out well over 6 Gb/sec at peak—this was the largest streaming site in the world at the time.● Involved with all aspects of team challenges including training, architecture, security, scaling, installation/package/configuration management, monitoring/alerting, and site migration.● Co-­created a patented system for scalable, fault tolerant delivery of media streams to edge devices.● Architected or co-­architected all of the host complexes AOL Streaming had used during myemployment with the company.
