Andrew Cote is a well-rounded engineer with extensive experience in research environments. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics with Distinction from The University of British Columbia and a Bachelor's of Arts with First Class Honors in Social Sciences from McGill University. Andrew has worked in various organizations, including Adelphi Technology, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, and Eta.bio, where he developed low-cost and open-source instruments for pathogen detection in the developing world. Andrew's expertise lies in combining electrical, mechanical, and software engineering knowledge to design, prototype, and test instruments and devices for various applications. Andrew's research experience encompasses designing, modeling, and testing radio-frequency accelerating structures, contributing to finite element analysis software to simulate charged particle beams in static magnetic fields, and developing plasma diagnostics. He was also involved in designing and installing an impedance matching resonant transformer to power the beamline structure at TRIUMF's ISAC-II facility, fabricating a 3-axis Helmholtz coil, and developing neutron sources for defense, medical, and security applications with Adelphi Technology. His experience in different organizations and working on various projects has made him proficient in analog and digital electronics, mechanical engineering, and object-oriented software design, image analysis, and running experiments to improve device sensitivity and accuracy.
