Andrew Bosworth

Andrew "Boz" Bosworth is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Meta, a position he has held since January 2022. He is known for leading the Reality Labs team, which focuses on augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.

Early Life and Education

Bosworth was born and raised in Santa Clara County, California, growing up on a farm in Saratoga. He attended Harvard University, where he graduated in 2004. During his time at Harvard, he met Mark Zuckerberg while serving as a teaching assistant in an artificial intelligence class.15

Career Path

Bosworth began his career at Microsoft, working as a developer on Microsoft Visio for nearly two years. He joined Facebook (now Meta) in January 2006 as one of the company's earliest engineers, where he played a crucial role in developing the News Feed and various anti-abuse systems. Over the years, he has held several significant positions within the company, including leading the integration of Messenger and Chat products, and overseeing various engineering teams focused on features like Events, Photos, and Ads.125

In 2017, he transitioned to head the newly formed AR/VR organization, known as Reality Labs.
