Andrew Barr

Andrew Barr is a Founding Partner at GreyMatter, a venture capital firm focused on mental health and emotional well-being. He has a significant background in both investment and mental health advocacy. Before co-founding GreyMatter, Barr was involved in advising and investing in startups and nonprofits at the intersection of mental health and technology, leveraging his personal experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) to inform his work.13

His professional journey includes being the Co-Founder and COO of Prefer, a startup backed by Benchmark that catered to independent workers. He also served as an investor at Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), a prominent venture capital firm where he contributed to investments in successful companies like Dropbox, Klarna, and Uber. Barr began his career at Qatalyst Partners, a technology-focused investment bank.13

Academically, Barr holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He currently resides in Berkeley, California, with his wife and daughter, and enjoys activities such as running and hiking.12
