Andrew Bamugye

Andrew Bamugye is a seasoned development finance professional and a chartered accountant with over 13 years of comprehensive experience in delivering Private Sector and Development Advisory Services/Solutions in Sub Saharan Africa, focusing on the SME sector. He has worked in various countries including Uganda, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Lesotho, and Botswana with numerous companies.

Andrew's expertise lies in business development, project management, stakeholder relations, operational strategy, and staff management. He has a profound understanding of private sector operations, agricultural value chains, and market systems, having collaborated with multinational agribusinesses, government entities, and development partners. With a successful track record, Andrew leads a profitable business generating over US$ 7 million annually and oversees a team of 6 professionals.

Andrew's career highlights include establishing the first country office in Zambia, expanding operations in Lesotho and Malawi, and significantly growing the business in Zambia. He has successfully managed large grants portfolios, orchestrated key development and advisory deals, and built a strong operational team. His journey began in 2003 when he earned certification as an SME Business Development Adviser from the Private Sector Foundation Uganda through the International Finance Corporation's (IFC) African Project Development Facility (APDF) training.

In terms of education, Andrew has an impressive academic background. He has pursued specialized courses in Making Markets Work for the Poor, Development Finance, Impact Investing in Africa, Investment Appraisal and Analysis, and Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. He holds degrees in Master of Development Finance, Master of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Commerce, along with certificates in Executive Education and Investment Appraisal and Analysis.

Throughout his career, Andrew has held key roles in various renowned organizations. Currently, he serves as the Senior Investment Manager SME Finance at Trade and Development Bank (TDB). In the past, Andrew has been a Non-Executive Director at Uganda Funeral Services and Kutlwelo Pty Limited, the Founder of Destiny Farms (Uganda) Limited, and has held multiple positions at AMSCO such as Country Managing Director for Zambia and Head of Operations for Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. Prior to these roles, he has contributed his expertise at MTN Uganda, Uganda Telecommunications Limited, and Kisaaka and Company, Certified Public Accountants.
