Andrew Ackerman is the Managing Director of the UrbanTech accelerator at Dreamit Ventures, where he focuses on supporting startups in sectors critical to urbanization, such as real estate technology, construction technology, IoT, smart cities, clean energy, agriculture, transportation, and AI. He has a background in entrepreneurship and investment, having previously launched the Dreamit Edtech accelerator and served in various roles, including as an angel investor and strategic advisor for multiple organizations.1 3

In addition to his role at Dreamit, Ackerman is an adjunct professor at the Sy Syms School of Business and has contributed as a writer for publications like Fortune and Forbes. His career includes significant positions such as CEO of Layercake, COO of Bunk1.com, and a consultant at Strategy& (formerly Booz & Co).1 4

Ackerman is also involved in mentoring and advising startups, helping them navigate the challenges of scaling their businesses within the UrbanTech program, which spans 14 weeks and includes a structured approach to evaluating startups and guiding them through the investor roadshow.2 3
