Andrew Acedo

Andrew Acedo is the Manager of Community and Impact at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, a role he has held since November 2022. He is a first-generation Filipino American and an award-winning filmmaker, recognized for his contributions to the arts and community engagement. Acedo was honored with the "2021 Impact-Maker to Watch" award from the City of Los Angeles, reflecting his commitment to fostering inclusivity within the cinematic community, particularly for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disabled individuals.

In his current position, Acedo focuses on building relationships with community members and organizations to create a welcoming environment at the museum. His responsibilities include developing community partnerships, planning events, and implementing programs that celebrate diverse narratives in cinema. Prior to this role, he served as the Events & Outreach Director for NewFilmmakers Los Angeles, where he worked to elevate the voices of emerging filmmakers.

Acedo is also known for his filmmaking, with his latest short film, "Good Filipino Kids," receiving multiple selections and awards at various film festivals.
