Andres Mora, Ph.D., is a Robotics Engineer at NASA Ames Research Center, specializing in robotics for aerospace applications. He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on robotics from Tohoku University, Japan. His professional experience spans over eight years, during which he has been involved in designing, developing, and testing advanced robotics solutions.
Currently, he leads the engineering efforts for the Port Tester payload, an electronics diagnostics tool for the Astrobee free-flyer robots used on the International Space Station. Additionally, he serves as the software lead for the BioSentinel Science Operations Center, a mission aimed at studying the effects of deep space radiation on living organisms. His contributions also include work on the Mars Ingenuity Helicopter's Gravity Offset System, which simulates Martian conditions for testing purposes.
Mora is an IEEE Senior Member and has a strong record of innovation, evidenced by patents and multiple publications in underwater wireless multi-hop robotic sensor networks. He is passionate about mentoring future roboticists and has actively participated in workshops and courses related to rocketry and robotics.1
