Environmental Justice Advocate - Oral Historian - Social Media Strategist

Anahí Naranjo is the Equitable and Just National Climate Platform Coordinator at the Center for Earth, Energy, and Democracy (CEED). She has a strong background in environmental justice advocacy, with a focus on community outreach and multimedia storytelling. Anahí was born in Quito, Ecuador, and moved to New York City in 2002, where she became aware of the environmental inequalities faced by BIPOC communities, particularly regarding access to green spaces and living near toxic sites.1

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Middlebury College, specializing in Environmental History, and a Master of Arts in Oral History from Columbia University. Her graduate thesis explored the impacts of climate change on her hometown's cultural and physical landscape through personal narratives.1 Anahí is also an Ambassador for Latino Outdoors, where she works to promote access to nature for Latino communities.2

Anahí is passionate about using ethical storytelling as a tool for advocacy, aiming to empower marginalized communities to become agents of change in the fight for climate and social justice. She believes that storytelling can help create connections to nature and foster a sense of belonging for individuals who have historically been excluded from outdoor spaces.1
