    Amy Shearn

    Co-Founder and Instructor, Writing Co-Lab

    Amy Shearn is a writer, editor, and teacher who co-founded Writing Co-Lab in January 2023.13 She is based in Brooklyn, New York.1 Shearn is the author of five novels, including the upcoming "Dear Edna Sloane" (Red Hen Press, 2024) and "Animal Instinct" (Putnam, 2025).2 Her essays have appeared in publications such as The New York Times Modern Love column and Oprah Daily.2

    As a writing instructor, Shearn teaches creative writing classes both online and in New York City.1 She has nearly twenty years of experience editing for various publications and organizations, including Medium, JSTOR, Condé Nast, and the literary magazine Joyland.4 Shearn also works one-on-one with writers, offering manuscript consultations, developmental edits, writing coaching, and assistance with query letters and other submission materials.1

    Prior to co-founding Writing Co-Lab, Shearn held positions at several notable organizations:
