Amy Koenig
Assistant Professor of Classics at Hamilton College
Amy Koenig is a dedicated researcher focusing on Greek and Latin literature of the Roman Empire. Currently working on a book project with the University of Wisconsin Press, exploring the theme of loss of voice in Roman imperial literature and its link to a unique form of liberation in these works.
Amy has a rich body of published work, including contributions on ancient prose fiction, Ovid's poetry, Latin dictionary entries for the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae in Munich, and the editing of Greek papyrus texts from the Oxyrhynchus collection at the University of Oxford.
With a strong academic background, Amy has taught Latin and Ancient Greek language and literature at various levels, along with classical civilization courses covering diverse topics such as mythology, Roman culture and history, gender and sexuality in antiquity, and Greek and Roman medicine.
Amy Koenig holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from Harvard University, a Master of Studies (M.St.) in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from Yale University.
In terms of her professional experience, Amy has served as an Assistant Professor at Hamilton College, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften, held roles as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor at Hamilton College, and also worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Miami.
