Amy Funderburk is a highly accomplished Nurse Executive and consultant based in South Carolina. In 2002, after relocating to New Jersey, Amy took on the role of Nurse Manager for the Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Mother Baby units at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. In this position, she spearheaded the organization’s journey towards achieving Magnet status, a prestigious recognition awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) that reflects excellence in nursing and patient care. Amy not only led this initiative but was also the primary writer of the award documentation, which resulted in a successful site visit from the ANCC. During her time in New Jersey, she further expanded her academic credentials by obtaining her Master’s in Nursing with a focus on Leadership and Healthcare Administration from Drexel University, where she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau honor society and earned her board certification as a Nurse Executive.
In 2007, Amy relocated to Arkansas, where she served in several progressively responsible roles within the healthcare system. Her leadership expertise was instrumental as she took on the position of Administrative Director of Quality, Epidemiology, and Regulatory Compliance. Subsequently, she served as the Service Line Administrator for Women’s, Medical, and Behavioral Health services, eventually culminating her journey in Arkansas as the Market Director of Nursing for the Jack Stephens Heart Institute. Her impressive contributions to nursing excellence included being a Magnet writer for CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, successfully guiding the organization to achieve full designation from the ANCC Magnet program in both 2013 and 2017. Additionally, Amy shared her knowledge and passion for nursing by serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
Amy’s academic journey culminated in 2016 when she completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at UAMS, with a specialized focus on nurse satisfaction and retention. This significant achievement highlighted her dedication to improving the nursing workforce and ensuring high-quality patient care.
In 2017, Amy returned to her roots in South Carolina, where she briefly served as the Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) for Palmetto Health Baptist before transitioning to her current role as a consultant in September 2018. At present, Amy is leveraging her extensive nursing background and expertise as the Nurse Executive with Cadre Health. In this position, she focuses on harnessing technology to achieve strategic goals in nursing, operational efficiency, and continuous quality improvement in healthcare facilities.
