Change Agent with extensive public sector experience
Amy Friedman is the President and CEO of Book Trust, a national nonprofit organization focused on improving literacy among children. She held this position from April 2011 until June 2018, during which she successfully transitioned the organization from a local initiative to a sustainable national entity, effectively doubling its impact within five years. Under her leadership, Book Trust expanded its reach to over 50,000 students across more than 20 states and significantly increased annual fundraising revenue from $1 million to over $5 million through strategic partnerships and development efforts.12
Friedman has over two decades of experience in the public sector, where she has worked in various roles, including as Chief of Staff to the Superintendent of Denver Public Schools and as a teacher. Her educational background includes a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Bachelor of Science in Linguistics, both from Georgetown University.12
In addition to her role at Book Trust, she has served as the Acting Chief of Staff & State Director for U.S. Senator Michael Bennet since 2019, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to public service and education.1
