Amelie Schoenenwald

Amelie Schoenenwald, PhD, MBA, is a German biologist and reserve astronaut selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) in November 2022. Born in 1989, she has an extensive academic background and diverse professional experience.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree: Molecular Biotechnology from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany (2009-2015).
• Master's Degrees:
  • Industrial Biotechnology (TUM).
  • Biochemistry (TUM).
• PhD: Integrative Structural Biology from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria (2020), focusing on structural biology, virology, and immunology.
• MBA: Business Administration from Collège des Ingénieurs in Germany, France, and Italy (2021).

• Scientific Project Lead: Max Perutz Labs in Austria, Singapore, and Israel during her doctoral studies.
