Amel B.Makkawi is the founder and director of Art Sawa, a prominent art platform in Dubai. Her journey began in 2008 when she noticed a gap in the city's art scene despite a growing interest in art and culture. Motivated by a passion for art and talent promotion, Amel embarked on creating a space for regional artists to showcase their work, leading to the establishment of Art Sawa. This platform serves as a hub for contemporary art from the Middle East, North Africa, and neighboring regions, offering exhibitions, educational programs, and publications to engage the public and promote artistic dialogue. With a 10,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art space, Art Sawa plays a pivotal role in fostering interactions between art and diverse audiences, both locally and globally.
