Amber Jamil

Amber Jamil is the Unit Head for Programme, Budget, and Reporting in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a position she has held since April 2021. Based in Vienna, Austria, she has a robust background in international relations, particularly in nuclear nonproliferation and security issues.
Prior to her role at the IAEA, Jamil was a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council's South Asia Center, where she focused on various international relations topics. Her extensive experience includes serving as the Director of Communication at Indus, where she facilitated policy dialogues on South Asian security and development issues. Additionally, she was the Executive Director of the American Pakistan Foundation, a State Department initiative aimed at fostering partnerships among international stakeholders.
Amber Jamil holds a Master’s degree in Global Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Smith College. She is fluent in Urdu and Hindi and has published articles in several notable outlets, including The National Interest and World Politics Review.123
