Altona Widjaja is a seasoned professional heading new digital ventures at Bank OCBC NISP, a subsidiary of OCBC in Indonesia. With over a decade of experience in Financial Services Technology, Consumer Banking, and Strategy, he spearheaded The Open Vault, the Fintech and Innovation arm of OCBC Group.
In his role, Altona leads the development of fintech and innovation strategies, engaging in conversations about the bank of the future, managing acceleration programs, fostering open innovation solution development, and building a culture of innovation within OCBC Group. His day-to-day activities range from addressing routine tasks like fixing the coffee machine to meeting with startups, collaborating on new ideas, and engaging in stimulating debates with the risk and compliance team.
Projects at The Open Vault typically involve a mix of cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, application programming interfaces, and blockchain solutions. Altona is deeply passionate about using technology as an enabler and challenging the status quo. His academic background includes a Master's in Technology (Knowledge Engineering) and a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, along with executive education from INSEAD.
Altona's educational journey includes studying at Tirta Marta for high school, completing an Executive Education Programme at INSEAD, pursuing a Master's degree at the National University of Singapore, and obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering from Nanyang Technological University.
With a rich organizational history at OCBC Bank, Altona previously held leadership positions such as Vice President, VP of the COO Office, Assistant Vice President, Management Associate, and roles encompassing Treasury Operations, Client Operations Support, IT/Murex Analyst, and Operation Supervisor at various divisions of the bank.
