Allison Hanes

Allison Carden Hanes is a dedicated biologist and primatologist with a deep passion for wildlife conservation, specifically in the realm of conservation medicine, focusing on the interconnectedness of wildlife, ecosystems, and human health.

With a BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MSc in Primate Conservation from Oxford Brookes University, Allison has a strong educational background.

Her professional journey has been diverse, from working with organizations like the Uganda Wildlife Authority and Conservation Through Public Health to directing nonprofits such as Art of Conservation in Rwanda, which focuses on educating communities about health through the arts.

Allison collaborates with various nonprofits and professionals globally, using different mediums like conferences, publications, art, photography, and digital media to share her knowledge and experiences.

Being an Explorers Club Fellow and a part of WINGS WorldQuest Flag Carrier and the Young Professionals Council at EcoHealth Alliance showcases her commitment to environmental causes and scientific exploration.

She has worked in various capacities such as a veterinary technician, photographer, producer, and communications director, with a vast array of organizations ranging from animal clinics to film festivals to conservation groups.

Apart from her professional engagement, Allison is currently working on multimedia projects focused on wildlife and educational initiatives like promoting safe mountain gorilla trekking protocols through One Health Productions.

One of her notable ongoing projects is 'The Great Call,' a feature length wildlife multimedia project. Allison's team has secured funding through summer 2021 and is seeking additional support from executive producers and grantors for later stages.
