Alf Nilsen

Alf Thomas Nilsen is an accomplished engineering manager with a diverse background in leading and managing teams in the tech industry.

Currently serving as the Engineering Manager for the mobile apps teams at Vipps, Alf Thomas has a wealth of experience in spearheading both singular and multiple teams, managing managers, and engaging with business stakeholders.

His journey in the tech realm began at Schibsted/Adevinta, where he transitioned from a backend engineer to the Tech Lead and Team Lead for the mobile apps team at FINN.no, where he successfully nurtured a team from inception to a size of 10 members.

Progressing in his career, Alf Thomas assumed the role of Engineering Manager for a medium-sized team at Schibsted, focusing on creating and launching products that fostered trust among users across various Schibsted marketplaces globally.

With the split of Schibsted into Schibsted and Adevinta, he embarked on a new position at Adevinta as the Head of Engineering for the Engagement Marketplace Component teams, overseeing approximately 40 engineers. This role involved managing a portfolio of components such as Messaging, notifications, trust, and an AB-testing platform, with successful product rollouts across Adevinta's international marketplaces.

Prior to his tenure at Schibsted/Adevinta, Alf Thomas spent five years as a backend engineer, contributing to the development of systems for a prominent Norwegian insurance and banking company.

Alf Thomas Nilsen pursued his education by completing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering at the University of South-Eastern Norway.
