Alexander Savelyev

Alexander Savelyev serves as the Deputy Head of the Center of International Security at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), Russian Academy of Sciences. With a career spanning over four decades since 1973, his expertise includes strategic studies and international security.

During 1989-1991, Alexander Savelyev played a significant role in the US-Soviet START-1 negotiations as an Adviser, representing the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Defense & Space Talks. This experience highlights his deep involvement in diplomatic affairs and his contribution to global security.

In terms of education, Alexander Savelyev studied Economy at the Moscow Institute of National Economy, providing him with a strong economic background that complements his strategic and security-focused roles.

Prior to his current position at IMEMO, Alexander Savelyev held the prestigious title of Professor at Moscow State University. Additionally, he served as the Head of the Department of Strategic Studies at IMEMO, further solidifying his expertise in this field.
