Alexander Lin

Alexander Lin is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Center for Clinical Spectroscopy at Brigham and Women's Hospital.12 He holds a Master's degree in Bioengineering and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the California Institute of Technology.12 Dr. Lin began his career as a research associate in 1997 and has held various positions, including Director of Clinical Services and Senior Scientist at the Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Unit at the Huntington Medical Research Institutes.12
His research primarily focuses on the clinical applications of multinuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, particularly in the brain, breast, liver, and cardiovascular imaging.12 Dr. Lin has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Young Investigator’s Award for his work in 13C spectroscopy related to Alzheimer's disease and an NHLBI Fellows Research Award for his work on strain mapping of carotid arteries.12 He has also received a Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program grant to study mild traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder in soldiers.12
Dr. Lin is actively involved in mentoring students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, through programs like the Student Success Jobs Program and Harvard Catalyst summer research studies.12 He has co-authored over three dozen peer-reviewed publications, five book chapters, and more than 75 conference abstracts.12
