    Alex Schofield is an Oakland-based architectural designer and technologist.2 He is the director of the design workshop, Objects and Ideograms, where he focuses on materiality and rethinking spatial making.123 As a design technologist, Alex invents his own materials, fabrication processes, and systems to tackle the challenges of our past, present, and future.2

    Objects and Ideograms is a design workshop that is focused on materiality and its meaning in global contexts.1 Schofield's work ranges from the tangible built environment to intangible data and graphic.12 He collaborates with the Architectural Ecologies Lab in the prototype, development, and launch of 3D printed Calcium Carbonate modules to investigate material and spatial properties in service of marine ecology.1
