Alex Clark

Alex Clark is the Founder and CEO of PressPatron, a crowdfunding platform designed to support high-quality journalism. He launched PressPatron in February 2017, aiming to address the financial challenges faced by media organizations by enabling readers to contribute financially through donations. The platform has successfully generated over $8.8 million USD for more than 150 clients, ranging from individual journalists to large publishers, including New Zealand's largest news website, Stuff.co.nz.12

Before founding PressPatron, Clark had a diverse background in journalism, having worked as a journalist, editor, photographer, and media researcher. This experience has given him insight into the difficulties within the media community, motivating his commitment to create sustainable solutions for journalism.14 Under his leadership, PressPatron has been recognized as one of New Zealand's hottest media tech start-ups and has received accolades for its innovative approach to funding journalism.25
