Alejandro Jenkins

Alejandro Jenkins is a prominent Costa Rican theoretical physicist, born on October 17, 1979, in San José, Costa Rica. He currently serves as a professor at the University of Costa Rica and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences in Costa Rica. His research focuses on various areas, including quantum field theory, particle physics, cosmology, self-oscillating dynamical systems, and quantum thermodynamics.

Education and Career

Jenkins began his academic journey at the University of Costa Rica, where he studied mathematics before transferring to Harvard College, where he earned an A.B. degree in physics and mathematics in 2001. He then completed his Ph.D. in theoretical physics at Caltech in 2006, focusing on particle physics and cosmology beyond the Standard Model. His postdoctoral work included positions at Caltech, the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics, and Florida State University.

In 2013, Jenkins became a professor at the University of Costa Rica, and in 2015, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences of Costa Rica.
