    Alec Avedissian

    Co-Founder & CEO at RAREFORM

Alec Avedissian is the founder of Rareform, a company established in 2012 with a unique mission of repurposing billboards into distinctive bags and accessories. Inspired during a trip to El Salvador, Alec observed the innovative use of billboards as roofing material, which sparked the idea to utilize their durable and weather-resistant vinyl for creating new goods. With the help of his brother Aric, Alec pioneered the concept of transforming billboard vinyl into practical items, starting with a surfboard bag. Today, Rareform upcycles over 80% of billboards from major urban areas and highways in the US, crafting one-of-a-kind products for everyday use, irrespective of being a surfer. Alec's journey with Rareform has not only revitalized his career but also provided a sense of purpose, emphasizing the potential for a second life in everything we encounter. Through the ethos of breathing new life into discarded materials, Alec and his team aim to imbue their creations with a sense of joy and fulfillment for their customers.
