Albert Shum

Albert Shum is a career design leader who recently retired from Microsoft as Corporate Vice President of Design in 2022.23 With over 25 years of global consumer brand and design development expertise, he has led strategic initiatives across multidisciplinary teams at Nike and Microsoft, scaling design thinking and launching products that influence millions.12
Currently, Albert Shum serves as a Class Advisor at the Institute of Design (ID) in Chicago, a role he has held since January 2023.4 At ID, he advises for the course IDX 562 Multidisciplinary Prototyping with Anijo Mathew, Dean of the Institute of Design.4
