Alan Rusbridger

Alan Rusbridger is a prominent British journalist and the current editor of Prospect magazine, a position he has held since September 2021. Born on December 29, 1953, in Zambia, he graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge, with a degree in English. His journalism career began at the Cambridge Evening News, and he joined The Guardian in 1979, eventually becoming its editor-in-chief from 1995 to 2015.14

During his tenure at The Guardian, Rusbridger oversaw significant transformations, including the paper's shift to a digital-first operation. He was involved in high-profile stories, notably the publication of Edward Snowden's leaks, which garnered international attention.15 After stepping down from The Guardian, he served as principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, from 2015 until his appointment at Prospect.

In addition to his editorial roles, Rusbridger is active in various organizations. He chairs the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and is a member of Facebook's Oversight Board. He has also authored several works on journalism and media.236

Rusbridger's contributions to journalism have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2014.4 He is married to journalist Lindsay Mackie and resides in London with their two children.6
