Alan Pacheco is a doctoral candidate with a focus on systems biology, metabolic engineering, and microbiome ecology. He is currently involved in research at the Segrè Lab at Boston University, delving into metabolic interaction networks and assembly processes for complex microbial communities. Alan is supported by prestigious fellowships such as the HHMI Gilliam Fellowship and NASEM Ford Predoctoral Fellowship.
Alan's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioinformatics and a Master of Science (MS) in Bioinformatics from Boston University. He also studied Biomedical Engineering at Technische Universität Dresden and earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Engineering, Cum Laude, from Boston University.
With a rich history in various organizations, Alan was a Ph.D. Candidate at Segrè Lab and a Ph.D. Student at Boston University. He also served as a Visiting Research Fellow in Systems Biology at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. Additionally, Alan gained experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the CIDAR (Densmore) Lab and the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, along with a Research Internship at the STEPP Lab for Sensorimotor Rehabilitation Engineering, all located at Boston University.
