Alan Fitzgerald

Alan Fitzgerald is an experienced leader with a strong background in the fin-tech, payments, and eCommerce industries. His expertise includes Typescript (React, Node.js), Python, Scalability, Performance Tuning, Web Applications, and Agile Methodologies. He holds multiple AWS certifications, received training from the Berkeley Executive Leadership program, and holds a Masters in Computer Science.

Alan's educational journey includes studying at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business for the Berkeley Executive Leadership program, completing a Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Southern Maine, and earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the same institution. Additionally, he discovered his passion for technology after realizing accounting was not his calling during his time at Bentley College.

In terms of professional experience, Alan has held key positions in renowned organizations. Currently, he serves as the Senior Director of Software Engineering (Head of Engineering, DAVO by Avalara) at Avalara. Previously, he has worked in various roles at Avalara, CashStar, Blackhawk Network, Bottomline Technologies, L3 Technologies, Predicted Solutions LLC, and as a Sole Proprietor and at the University of Southern Maine. His roles have ranged from Co-founder and CTO to Lead Software Engineer, Director of Software Engineering, and VP of Software Engineering.
