Al Smith

Al Smith is a multifaceted individual with a background as a student, scientist, leader, businessman, and innovator. Their academic focus spans medicine, computation, and engineering, with a keen interest in microsurgery, cortical circuit analysis, machine learning, and surgical robotics. Al aspires to establish a startup specializing in post-operational care for neurosurgery patients, finish a dual MD/PhD program at Carle-Illinois College of Medicine, and secure a spot in a neurological surgery residency program in the coming years.

Al's academic journey includes pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and PhD in Medicine and Robotics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. They also successfully completed degrees in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as well as Biomedical Engineering & Computer Science at Saint Louis University - Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology. The educational foundation was laid at Benet Academy.
