Akshay Bhamidipati, MD, MS
Akshay Bhamidipati is a resident physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is pursuing a career in neurosurgery.123 He graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine with an MD degree in 2024.34
Prior to medical school, Bhamidipati earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University in 2019 with a GPA of 3.93/4.00.3 He also obtained a Master of Science in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins in 2019 with a perfect 4.00 GPA.3
During his time at Vanderbilt, Bhamidipati has been involved in various research projects as part of the Vanderbilt Cerebrovascular Outcomes and Management Research Group.5 He has co-authored several publications on topics such as post-thrombectomy intracranial hemorrhage, contrast density in dual-energy CT, and the economic impact of gunshot wound mortality.12
In addition to his medical training and research, Bhamidipati has experience in healthcare advocacy and policy. He was previously a candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2018-2019, where he managed a campaign team, debated policy positions, and engaged with the public.3
Bhamidipati is fluent in Telugu and Hindi, in addition to English.3 He was awarded a Socioeconomic Fellowship by the Congress of State Neurosurgical Societies in September 2022.3
