Akshaj Darbar is an ambitious 18-year-old student with a keen interest in human longevity, immunology, and cancer research.
Currently, Akshaj is a research assistant at the Rauh lab at Queen's University, focusing on the association between clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as the epigenetic profile of CHIP.
Akshaj is also the Chief Scientific Officer at Biotein, a startup dedicated to eradicating age-related diseases by developing innovative solutions like a protein-based saliva bio-age test to enhance healthspan and future preventative therapies for dementias.
In addition to his professional roles, Akshaj is exploring the potential of immunotherapies targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) for preventing cancer relapse and as prophylactic cancer vaccines.
He is pursuing a degree in Biomedical Computing at Queen's University and has a solid educational background, including a Bachelor of Computing in Biomedical Computing and a High School Diploma from Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute.
With his diverse experiences as a former Research Assistant, Website Developer, and Innovator at various organizations including Queen's University and The Knowledge Society, Akshaj has cultivated a unique skill set to drive his passion for innovative research in the fields of longevity, immunology, and cancer.
