Akoto Ofori-Atta

Akoto Ofori-Atta, a seasoned journalist, is the Cofounder and Chief Audience Officer of Capital B, a upcoming nonprofit news organization catering to Black Americans.

With a strong background in editorial operations and partnerships, Akoto's experience includes roles such as Managing Editor at The Trace, where she led special projects and collaborations with over 170 local and national editorial partners.

Her career also includes positions like Associate Editor and Social Media Manager at The Root, as well as a Senior Editor at Essence Magazine, showcasing her diverse skill set in media and journalism.

Akoto's educational journey includes a Masters of Arts in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism from Hampton University, underlining her commitment to honing her craft.

Furthermore, her professional growth was augmented by completing a prestigious John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University, focusing on topics related to diversity and the Black press, demonstrating her dedication to inclusive and impactful journalism.
