Ajay Kuntamukkala

Ajay Kuntamukkala is a partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP, where he co-heads the International Trade and Investment group. This practice is recognized as a Band 1 Chambers and Legal 500 practice, comprising over 50 professionals across the United States, Europe, and Asia.1 Ajay specializes in export controls, economic sanctions, defense trade, international trade policy, and anti-bribery matters. He advises clients on compliance with trade and sanctions laws, designs compliance programs, obtains government licenses, and assists with government investigations related to trade and sanctions matters.1

Before joining Hogan Lovells, Ajay served as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security from September 2003 to August 2005. In this role, he was the principal policy advisor to the Undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security, focusing on U.S. export control policy and high-technology trade.1

Ajay holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Boston College (1991-1995), a Master of Public Policy in International Trade and Finance from Harvard Kennedy School (1995-1998), and a Juris Doctor in International Law/Trade from Georgetown University Law Center (1996-1999).1
