Ahmed Tigani

Ahmed Tigani is the First Deputy Commissioner and Chief Diversity Officer at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD). He has held this position since August 2022.1

Prior to his current role, Tigani served as:

• Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Neighborhood Strategies at HPD from February 2021 to August 20221
• Chief of Staff at the DOE COVID Situation Room from July 2020 to June 20211
• Chief of Staff at the NYC Department of Buildings from July 2019 to February 20211
• Senior Advisor for Housing, Economic Development and Labor at the Mayor's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs from November 2018 to July 20191
• Legislative Representative for Land Use and Development at the Mayor's Office of City Legislative Affairs from November 2017 to November 20181

Tigani has a background in urban planning, having worked as an Assistant Director for Land Use, Planning and Development at the Manhattan Borough President's Office from April 2016 to October 2017.1 He also served as a Community Development Officer and Urban Planner at the Manhattan Borough President's Office from March 2015 to March 2016.1

Tigani holds a Bachelor's degree in Theater with minors in Political Science and Classics from Hunter College, and a Master's degree in Urban Planning from Hunter College as well.1
