Ahmad Gomaa is a highly experienced veteran VC with more than 22 years of expertise in startup funding in Egypt.

He has managed six tech funds for startups totaling $170mn in Assets Under Management (AUMs) and has an impressive track record in the industry.

Ahmad Gomaa's professional journey includes pivotal roles in renowned organizations such as American Express Bank CIIC, EFG Hermes, Grofin, and Egypt Ventures.

In 1999, he initiated the first startup fund in the MENA region under CIIC, highlighting his pioneering spirit and innovative approach to venture capital.

Moreover, Ahmad Gomaa founded the first business plan competition for startups in Egypt back in 2005, demonstrating his commitment to fostering entrepreneurial talent in the region.

Throughout his career, he has made strategic investments in various startups, notably supporting successful ventures like Raya and Fawry, which later went public through an IPO.

He has also been involved in backing significant B2C models such as Masrawy and Otlob, contributing to the growth of the startup ecosystem in Egypt.

Ahmad Gomaa's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics from Victoria University of Wellington.
