Afshan Hamid is a highly skilled and experienced urban planner, policy maker, and architect. With a Master's degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Hamid has worked in several prominent positions throughout her career.
Currently serving as Planning Manager at the City of Vallejo, California, Hamid has also worked as Acting Director at the same place and served as Senior Planner at the City of Concord, Ca. Her areas of specialization include Long Range Planning and Policy, Urban Planning, Master Plan and Implementation, Design Reviews, and Design Guidelines. Hamid has a proven expertise in building strong partnerships that help to drive successful urban planning initiatives.
Apart from her work at the City of Vallejo, Hamid has previously held positions as Urban Design & Planning at City of Walnut Creek, Principal Planner at Village of Arlington Heights, Architect at Skidmore Ownings & Merrill, and Architect at Hirsch Associates, LLC. Hamid is driven by a passion for sustainable and livable cities that promote equity and inclusivity.
