Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival

- Provided community outreach to the South Asian Community to bring in vendors during The Indian International Film Awards, which led to vendors promoting and selling their products.• Coordinated all the vendors from the South Asian Community for an South Asian open house wedding show at the Hotel, which resulted in the Hotel obtaining at least two weddings to be held at the Hotel.

- Managed the move of 200 staff members to the TIFF Bell Lightbox home and effectively determined departmental locations, logistics and moving vendors. Communicated and clearly outlined guidelines and details for staff, which resulted in a smooth transition from one location to another.•   Negotiated with hotels and retailers for cost effective venue rentals for festival site on a yearly basis which resulted in significant cost savings to organization and an easy to navigate site for participants.•   Worked in collaboration with fellow team members in departments such as Guest Office, Ticketing, Volunteers, Production and Information Technology, to ensure that needs were promptly met in a highly professional manner.  •   Annually contracted numerous suppliers to ensure a smooth transition and set up from TIFF’s permanent office space to various off-site locations by utilizing key negotiating and communication skills. •   Held monthly and annual performance review sessions with each staff member to set objectives and review accomplishments and offered recommendations for promotion.•   In collaboration with the Volunteer Department, recruited, coordinated and trained volunteers for the Operations/Facilities Department. Due to success of volunteer program, numerous participants transitioned to full-time employment for the festival.  •   Carefully prepared and managed a yearly budget of $800, 000 for the Operations Department, to ensure that department never went over-budget in its purchases.

Toronto International Film Festival

- Played a key role in assisting Director of Research in funding scientists through the Alzheimer Society of Canada by coordinating application process, following up with applicants and assisting in the daily operations of organization.•   Collected, analyzed and provided relevant information to the Director for the Society’s annual conference in Halifax, attended by more then 2000 from across Canada. Coordinated and managed over 200 volunteers to ensure a seamless and smooth event which received excellent feedback.

Alzheimer Society of Canada

Administrative Assistant

- Advised and assisted the Executive Producer on all aspects of production for 15 minute radio segments to promote documentary radio producers. Organized all technical aspect in accordance with strict CBC Radio guidelines.  •   Conducted outreach to various communities for proposals to produce on-air documentaries. Assisted in reviewing proposals and provided key guidance to community members in the specifics of radio production. •   Organized weekly meetings with Producers and Executive Producer to generate creative ideas for show, which ranged from working as a farmer in the Prairies to obtaining body piercings in Toronto. •   Utilized the archives of CBC Radio to research sound bites for documentaries which resulted in high quality programming, which in turn, broadened listener base.•   Hired for role due to positive feedback from independently produced segment for show. “Arrange This!” looked at arranged marriages, came together through intense interviews, research and the integration of music.

- Assisted the Manager of Volunteers for the 1999 Toronto International Film Festival by coordinating over 1000 volunteers, who were involved not only on the Festival, but with various departments within the organization. •   Recruited, trained and coordinated volunteers to fulfill roles ranging from Front of House to Green Room. Due to solid organization and record volunteer numbers, festival received outstanding accolades for its smooth operations.
