Hein Sprong
Hein Sprong is an experienced scientist and research coordinator with a strong background in molecular aspects of ecology, biology, epidemiology, and diagnostics of infectious diseases. With a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology from the University of Amsterdam, and an MSc in Biomedical Sciences, Beta Plus from Universiteit Utrecht, he has worked as a visiting scientist at Wageningen UR, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University, and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics. He has also served as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Science at Utrecht University and was a conscription non-commissioned officer cavalry reconnaissance at Ministerie van Defensie.
Currently, Hein Sprong is working as a scientist and project coordinator for wildlife and vector-borne zoonoses at the National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM). He has strong expertise in ticks and tick-borne diseases and in One Health. His broad educational background combined with his extensive professional experience allows him to work effectively at the intersection of ecology, biology, and epidemiology.
